Duration: 1 Day
Register for course
Course Purpose:
This course provides you with the necessary resources and hands-on practice to effectively program an RSLogix Guard PLUS project for GuardPLC controller communications with other devices, such as an OPC server and another controller. It builds upon your fundamental knowledge of common controller terms and operation, and the student’s ability to save, compile code, and download a project.
This course adds to your skill set by introducing new tasks such as creating user-defined function blocks, configuring a distributed I/O module, and configuring OPC and peer-to-peer communications. You will also learn how to configure user accounts for restricting access to windows of an RSLogix Guard PLUS project and for performing certain tasks on a GuardPLC controller.
Who Should Attend:
Individuals who need to program an RSLogix Guard PLUS project and configure a GuardPLC controller to communicate with other devices should attend this course.
Topic Outline:
- Creating an RSLogix Guard PLUS Function Block Routine
- Configuring a GuardPLC Distributed I/O Module
- Creating RSLogix Guard PLUS Project User Accounts
- Configuring a GuardPLC OPC Server
- Configuring GuardPLC Peer-to-Peer Communications
To successfully complete this course, the following prerequisites are required:
- Ability to perform basic Microsoft Windows tasks, such as using a mouse and moving windows
- Completion of the GuardPLC 1600/1800 Controller Systems Fundamentals (Course No. SAF-PLC101) and GuardPLC 1600/1800 Controller Systems Maintenance and Troubleshooting (Course No. SAF-PLC102) courses
- Experience with industrial control applications is recommended
To enhance and facilitate each student's learning experience, the following materials are provided as part of the course package:
- Student Manual, which contains the topical outlines and exercises. Students will use this manual to follow presentations, take notes, and work through the exercises.
- RSLogix Guard PLUS and Guard PLC Procedures Guide, which provides all of the steps required to complete basic RSLogix Guard PLUS software tasks that are common to GuardPLC controllers. By following the procedures in this job aid, students can immediately apply what is learned in the course to their own jobs.
- GuardPLC Documentation Reference Guide CD, which contains several relevant technical publications. This searchable, electronic resource contains the most frequently referenced information and is a quick and efficient on-the-job resource.
Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to practice skills that you have learned through a variety of hands-on exercises. You will also have the chance to configure a GuardPLC controller so that it can communicate with another GuardPLC controller.
