Installing a 1747-UIC Device Driver on a Windows XP Pro Computer
This is an example of how to install a Driver for a 1747-UIC Device on Win XP Pro Computer.
Go to our website http://support.rockwellautomation.com ( information is subject to change ) and download the Windows XP Driver ( 1747-UIC.ZIP ) for the 1747-UIC Device.
1. Double click on Driver file ( 1747-UIC.ZIP ) to down load ![]() | 2. (WinZip window is opened) Select Extract ![]() |

(In this case the Win XP 1747-UIC.ZIP Driver File is saved on the Computer's [C:] ) Click on [ C: ] then select " Extract " ( Do not down load the 1747-UIC Driver File to the Computer's Desktop ) ![]() | 4. Highlight the " UIC " folder on [C:] and then select " Extract" to save 1747-UIC.ZIP Driver File to the " UIC " folder ( the folder where the 1747-UIC.ZIP Driver file is downloaded is created before down loading the Driver file )![]() |
5. Close WinZip Window ( should have a total of 18 files )![]() | 6. Find the UIC folder on [C:] and then open the UIC folder by clicking on the + sign next to it ( a yellow 1747-UIC folder should appear in the UIC folder ) . Double click on the yellow 1747-UIC folder. ![]() |
| 7. Now another 1747-UIC folder and a pdf file is displayed in the UIC folder. Double click on the yellow 1747-UIC folder again. ![]() | 8. And a total of 17 files should appear in the yellow 1747-UIC folder.![]() |
| 9. Close Windows Explorer and " Shut Down " Computer ( do not restart Computer ) Attach the 1747-UIC Device to the Computer. Power the Computer back on. ![]() | 10. ![]() |

15. If a manual install of the device driver is required the file name is "ftdibus.inf" ![]() | 16. 1747-UIC Driver is installed ![]() |

Go to Device Manager to verify that the 1747-UIC Driver installed properly by going to: Select " Start " on computer desktop Select " Control Panel " Select "Administrative Tools" Select "Computer Management" Double click on " Device Manager" Click on the + sign next to Ports (COM & LPT) The Driver for the 1747-UIC device is successfully in stalled to COM3 ![]() | 18. If a yellow question mark or yellow exclamation mark appears in Device Manager in this manner under the word "Other Devices" for the 1747-USB Driver then, this is an indication that the Driver did not install properly.![]() |
